Seal Coat
Resurfacing & Striping
We offer very competitive prices for seal
coating and it is our specialty. Seal coating is a required
maintenance for asphalt and is inevitable after years of wear
and tear. Seal coating is an important defense against heavy
traffic and rough weather. In a way, seal coating is to asphalt,
what paint is to your home.
The first step of the seal coating process begins with a
heavy duty cleaning of the asphalt area (usually parking lots,
driveways, private streets etc.) using wired brooms and high
powered blowers to remove all debris and dirt from the area to
be sealed. This assures that there will be a better bond for the
seal coat.
It is very important to complete this
procedure when you can be sure that the surface will not come
into contact for water for at least 48 hours. So the weather can
play an important role in deciding when this type of work should
be completed. The weather should be 70 degrees and rising.
Some additional options are noted below:
Crack filling
In the event that there are cracks in the asphalt, the
cracks will need to be filled prior to applying the seal
coating. For this process, we use an acrylic base crack filler
which will allow the asphalt to move with the cracks as they
open and close.
Two coat
application
Two coats is the standard but there is also the
option to apply one coat for customers who want to cut down on
cost. The number of applications
will be worked out before any actual work begins and will be a
factor in determining the total overall price. Two coats will
add more durability and makes for a longer lasting surface.
Striping
Any existing striping will usually be repainted as they were
originally, but can be changed at the customer s request.
High quality paint is always used to assure long lasting
durability and visibility..
We also do
handicap ramps, parking lot signs and bollards (see
BOLLARDS).
Pricing: The price of this procedure is
determined based upon the current condition of the asphalt, the
size of the area to be sealed, & if any extra options were
requested.
There are a number of factors which help us
to rate the condition of the asphalt.
Some of which are:
-
How rough or course the surface is
-
The number & width of cracks in the
surface
-
The amount of preparation and cleaning
time required prior to applying the seal coat

Asphalt Repair
Failed asphalt is removed and replaced and
base rock needs to be re-compacted, possibly due to small spider
web like cracks, holes, root damage from large trees, heavy equipment
operation over asphalt... etc. All areas that need to be
removed are saw cut, or ground out and removed to depths usually
requested by owner (maybe 3 to 4 inches deep), or by our
recommendation and then replaced. The primary reason for
asphalt failure is due to weak base rock.
Pricing: The price is determined by
the condition of the asphalt and the amount of surface requiring
repair.

Tennis & Sports
Court Resurfacing
Courts are resurfaced using acrylic
products that are designed specifically for sport courts. Each
court will need to be evaluated on an individual basis to
determine the amount of resources and manpower that will be
needed to restore the court to its original condition.
Pricing: As mentioned above, each court will need to
be individually inspected in order to determine the amount of
resources that will be needed for the court's restoration.
Things you should keep in mind if you are considering restoring
a court:
-
Cracks and overall wear and tear can vary
greatly depending on the conditions in which the court has
been kept up. Even with the highest quality materials, time
and poor weather can do plenty of damage if preventive care is
not taken to prevent court deterioration.
-
Tennis court work must be done in
70 (or above) weather
conditions. Rain and cold weather will prevent it from curing
properly.
-
The customer has the option to choose
between light green,
dark green, red, blue, and beige for
the colors to be used when restoring their court. Keep in mind
that the colors used do not necessarily need to be replaced
using the traditional colors for that particular court.

Speed Bumps
Speed bumps,
to some people, are just another annoying obstacle that stands
between them and their destination. This obstacle however,
serves a very important purpose...
The main function of a speed bump is simple...
They are an effective way of regulating the speed of local
traffic. When confronted with a speed bump, a driver will need
to slow down or risk injuring themselves or damaging their
vehicle. By forcing traffic to slow down in an area, you provide a safer environment for pedestrians as well as reduce
the chances of collisions with other vehicles.
Speed bumps are usually used on private roads, parking lots, and
in some cases, you will find them being used to regulate the
traffic in residential areas where speeding motorists are
putting too many people at risk. They
can be placed just about anywhere and can be made in different
heights, widths, and lengths.
The most common material used for speed bump creation is
asphalt. The height, width, and length of any speed bump
installed will need to be determined by customer..
Pricing: Speed bumps will be priced
according to the actual height, width, and length of each speed
bump and the amount of materials/manpower that will be needed to
create them.
--We
installed most of the speed bumps in the Yahoo! parking lot in
San Jose, CA.

Bollards
Bollards are
available in 4", 6", and 8" diameters. The height can be set at
the owners discretion. Standard height of a bollard is between
3 and 4 feet. They are used primarily for protecting areas that
people do not want vehicles to be able to enter. Bollards are
used as a means of protection for important yet vulnerable
objects like main water or gas lines. They can also be seen in
areas such as pedestrian only walkways and near building
entrances.
Pricing:
Pricing is determined by the
requested size and and the quantity of bollards needed.
--We
installed quite a few bollards for NASA. In this particular
case, they are used to keep vehicles away from high security
buildings.
